Following the controversy in recent years regarding indigenous imagery in sports logos, Port Credit Secondary School, the oldest high school of Southern Ontario's Peel Region, sought an inclusive logo redesign for their sports team: the Port Credit Warriors. The previous logo featuring an indigenous warrior head had been in use for nearly a century.

The logo redesign maintains a retro appeal and celebrates the institution's long-spanning history, and replaces the controversial mascot with a well-known icon of the Southern Mississauga neighbourhood: the Port Credit lighthouse. Since 2017, the lighthouse logo has become the new identity of the school.
